WEBINAR: Library Telescope - Star Parties

DATE: August 18, 2021

TIME: 9:00 pm - 9:30 pm Eastern Time

PRESENTERS:
Chuck Simms, Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri

MODERATOR:
Don Ficken, St. Louis Astronomical Society, Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri

DESCRIPTION: Amateur astronomers have a long tradition of hosting "star parties" for the public to view the night sky through telescopes. Star parties are popular with the public, especially with families, and a great way to promote the science of astronomy.

A library telescope "star party" takes traditional star parties a step further, providing hands on training on how to navigate the night sky using a library telescope.

In this program, amateur astronomers will share their experiences hosting library telescope star parties and provide tips on how to host your own library telescope program star party, whether your library is located in an urban or rural area.
